We take you out to Waties Island which is the northern most point of our beautiful South Carolina coastline before you enter North Carolina. Waities Island is a completely undeveloped natural island with a rich anthropological history as it was home to the Waccamaw American Indians prior to the arrival of Europeans, burial mounds and ceramics have been found on the island that have been linked to the Waccamaw American Indians. Waties was named after William Waties the first European to claim this land. The island has only changed hands twice since then, once to Horace Tilghman in the 1920’s and again when Horace Tilghman’s granddaughter Anne gave the land to the Coastal Carolina University with stipulations that it would continue to remain as one of the last undeveloped barrier islands on the Grand Strand.
Relax and just have some fun in the sun like its your own private island!
One of the last remaining undeveloped barrier islands along the Grand Strand coastline. It will give you an idea of how the entire coastline was before it was built up by modern development.
Waties Island is known to have some of the best intact shells and sand dollars wash upon its shores.
Whether you are traveling with a large group, here for a special event, looking for a fun & unique team building activity, or just want to enjoy our tours in a more intimate environment. We can cater to you and your special requests. We will work with you to tailor a tour specific to your needs and special requests!
All of our Tours are great for families to spend some quality time together out on the water experiencing the beauty of North Myrtle Beach. Our most popular tour for families is our Private Island Adventure Kayak Tour, where we paddle out to a completely undeveloped Island. On the Island your family can explore the island, search for some of the best sea shells o the Grand Strand, or just play and relax in the sand or in the water. Your family will also have some great photo opportunities, our guides are more than happy to take some awesome pictures in the best locations on the island for this years family portrait.
Expect to smile, laugh, and have fun all while enjoying the outdoors. On each of our tours you will see different bird species to include the Great Egret and Herons some of our local larger bird species. You will also encounter fish jumping through the water and if we are lucky enough we will see some bottle nose dolphins swimming through the Hogs Inlet.
We recommend that you bring sunscreen, water, snacks, and a great fun attitude ready for an awesome adventure with Trailblaze Adventure. In case you need to step out of your kayak at some point, we recommend water shoes or sandals (not flip flops). A hat is useful for some people as well. We’ll provide the flotation vests, but if you have one that you are comfortable with, bring it as well. And don’t forget your camera as there will be plenty of great photo opportunities.

Any age as long as they are 30 lbs or more and in a two person kayak with an adult. Our smallest life jacket is made to fit a 30 lb child. Our shortest tour for children is on the water for about 1 ½ hours. This time goes quickly and most children are great, some even fall asleep with the motion of the kayak.
Any age, especially if they are in a two person kayak with a strong kayak partner, the double kayaks are perfect for this scenario.
We recommend that a kayaker should be 13 years or older to go in their own kayak.
We do kayak in wind and rain. If you however do not feel comfortable in the conditions of the day you may reschedule your tour to suit your own comfort level.
